Leadership Opportunites

Innovation Challenge

​I was awarded for my invention of ECOTEX that is a sustainable textile that eliminates microplastics that are found in synthetic textiles. I was one of the top winners in the NDSU Innovation Challenge 2019. I learned a tremendous amount during this journey, for example:

​

  • Material science and engineering of how different substances react with one another

  • Researched how microplastics are causing a huge negative impact on your planet and even our own bodies

  • Presented invention in front of hundreds of individuals and entrepreneurs

  • Designed an innovated product to make a huge positive impact on the planet 

Emerging Leadership Program

​I was privileged enough to be interviewed and selected to be apart of the first ever Emerging Leadership Program at North Dakota State University. I was selected because I showed leader characteristics and have showed true leadership not just on my university's campus but also within the community. Within the program my peers and I:

​

  • Focused on people, public, peer, and personal leadership growth in various working environments

  • Attained development of stronger character, integrity, and self-discipline

  • Resolved conflicts based off of probable situations within the workforce, community, and home

Universal Leadership Program

I have been honored with being interviewed and selected to be apart of ULP at NDSU for my leadership abilities along with motivation to continue to challenge and learn more to become a better leader. Some of the knowledge and skills we included in the program involve:

​

  • Reality-based leadership involvement to experience real world situations

  • Being mentored on ability to lead others and communicate like a professional

  • Workshops to overcome personal obstacles to leadership effectiveness

Kappa Delta Sorority

I am very excited to have had the opportunity to be interviewed and chosen to be apart of Kappa Delta Sorority at NDSU for my leadership, morals, work-ethic, values, time-management, and involvement on and off campus. Some leadership roles I have held within the organization and skills I have improved include:

Senior Budget

Committee Member

  • Researched past expenses and calculated current utility costs

  • Determined areas of expenses that require the most financial support 

  • Implemented budget plan for the KD chapter 

Chaplin

  • Researched weekly advice to encourage women within the chapter

  • Presented and announced during meetings about information helping young women

  • Lead by example of how young women become more confident in their leadership ability

Sisterhood Chair

  • Planned and organized events focusing on leadership and team building

  • Increased volunteer opportunities that were Fargo-community focused  

  • Managed fun activities within budget to improve self-confidence for members

Public Relations

Executive Council Member

  • Promoted, managed, and maintained the public’s view of the organization

  • Managed official social media sites to publicize the organization’s image

  • Efficiently communicated with fellow executive and assistant chain of command officers

Assistant Secretary

  • Communicated and collaborated with official secretary about daily duties

  • Managed accounts and organization's operating mail responsibilities 

  • Improved weekly letter of activities that exhibited organization's responsibilities and actions

I believe you learn best by growing in an environment that has diversity but also a similar common relation. Some of the skills and components that I was involved with include:

Event Organizer

  • Organized and promoted creative, fun, Christian-valued events for the Fargo community

  • Communicated with businesses/churches to create enjoyable events 

Bible Study Leader

  • Organized and presented teachings with an in-depth focus on history 

  • Strived to keep others engaged in learning more about an area of interest

TOMS Club

A huge passion of mine is helping others and doing so through organizations to make it easier for others to be able to help those in need. TOMS Club was inspired by the famous apparel brand that pay-it-forwards with their one-for-one mission. I was honored enough to hold a position in the club and my duties included:

Event Organizer

  • Organized and promoted pay-it-forward events on NDSU campus

  • Volunteered with other organizations events that aimed to help the Fargo community

Outdoor Adventure Club

I have always had a passion of the outdoors and enjoying the creation we are surrounded with. I held a leadership opportunity that was a delight for me to share my passion with of the outdoors with others. My duties included:

​

Public Relations Executive

  • Learned and performed wildlife safety procedures to better understand weather elements 

  • Promoted the importance of skills, clothing, food, and procedures that are essential to surviving all weather elements

  • Created promotions to boost member acquisition and participation
